How to Write a WikiCFO

Wiki Format

WikiCFO pages typically have six sections; Title, Introduction, Steps, Tips, Related WikiCFOs, and External Links.

Articles should not be marketing or advertising in content, instead they should be informative or a "white paper" in nature.

Title

The title should start with the words “How to” and should be brief, five words or less. Before adding a new topic, do a search to ensure that there isn’t already a page addressing your topic. If a page already exists, please add to that page to ensure efficient navigation for other WikiCFO users.

Introduction

Provide a brief summary for the topic that will encourage the user to read on. An ideal introduction should contain fewer than 50 words, but more or less can be used depending upon the complexity of the topic. This is the area to set a friendly tone with your reader and tell them why this topic is worth reading about.

Steps

1. This is the main body of your wikiCFO. Steps should be arranged in logical chronological order when possible.

2. Follow the KISS principle, Keep It Simple, Stupid. Readers appreciate clear and concise instructions.

3. Begin each step with a statement to be addressed or a question to be considered. For example, “Do you have the appropriate mix of inventory on hand for your sales demand?”

4. Make sure that the steps do not raise new questions that the copy does not answer. Give additional explanations as needed.

Use the Tips section to give helpful warnings or tips in order to help keep steps simple.

Tips

The tips field is the area where additional explanations or advice can be given. When writing a WikiCFO, be sure to exclude distracting typeface or abbreviations. Also, avoid making personal references to the author as any individual WikiCFO may eventually become the work of many authors.

Related WikiCFOs

Use this section to add related WikiCFOs on similar topics. For example, a page on how to manage inventory may contain a link to pages on how to select the best inventory control software.

External Links

This optional section can contain links that meet our external link guidelines. Only link to the highest quality pages which contain useful information directly pertinent to the topic. Links to websites added for advertising purposes will be deleted.
